About Us

About Reading Ready DMV

Our Mission

Why tutoring, why now?

Why tutoring, why now?

Our goal is to use the power of personalized instruction grounded in the science of reading to make a positive impact on how your child approaches reading, writing, and school in general.

We believe that every child can succeed and grow confidence when given appropriate individualized instruction from experts in the field. Through intentional collaboration with families, we ensure that students get all the skills they need to succeed in literacy.

Our lessons are tailored to your child's needs, interests, and personality. We use targeted, data-driven instruction to ensure that your child makes timely progress toward achieving grade-level standards and beyond.

We know that learning is easier when you have an excellent teacher. Reading Ready DMV educators have achieved advanced degrees in their field and have a wealth of experience with foundational literacy instruction for elementary school students.

We are dedicated to continuing professional development based on current research in the Science of Reading field and beyond.

Why tutoring, why now?

Why tutoring, why now?

Why tutoring, why now?

  • Your child has not yet mastered grade-level standards in literacy.
  • You want to prevent "summer slide": the common regression in skills that happens on long breaks from school.
  • You'd like to fill in the academic gaps that aren't being filled at school through individualized attention.
  • You want to see how your child could grow outside of the classroom setting with a professional's one-on-one instruction.

Red Flags in Kindergarten that should lead you to enroll your child in tutoring ASAP:

  • Your child cannot yet fluently name capital and lowercase letters out of alphabetical order or fluently produce the sounds for all letters.
  • Your child is having trouble breaking words into their smallest units of sound or blending sounds into whole words.
  • You notice your child is guessing 3-letter words rather than trying to sound them out beginning with their first letter.
  • Your child is unable to form capital and lowercase letters with efficient hand grip and/or writes letter strings rather than using letter-sound correspondence to write words.
  • Your child is frustrated or lacks confidence with literacy activities.
