Reading Ready DMV’s (RR DMV) goal is to use the power of personalized instruction grounded in the science of reading to make a positive impact on how children approach reading, writing and school in general.  We at RR DMV believe that every child can succeed and build confidence when given timely and appropriate individualized instruction from experts in the field. 


RR DMV’s lessons are tailored to each child’s needs, interests, and learning styles.  We use targeted, data-driven instruction to ensure that each child makes timely progress toward achieving grade-level standards and beyond.  Every child deserves an excellent teacher attentive to their specific needs. 


Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on level of qualifications and experience. 


Available Positions: 

1. Speech Language Pathologist: 

This is a remote contract role for a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) at Reading Ready DMV. We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Reading Ready DMV. As an SLP, you will play a crucial role in our mission to empower children to become confident and capable readers. In this role, you will work closely with students who struggle with language, articulation, and communication difficulties, using specialized techniques and interventions to help them build the necessary skills for reading success.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive speech and language assessments using industry standard tests and observation techniques

• Develop individualized treatment plans and goals for students based on assessment results and ongoing progress monitoring

• Provide direct therapy services to children, addressing speech and language delays and disorders related to reading

• Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to provide updates on progress and strategies for supporting their child's communication and language development at home

• Maintain detailed records of student progress and participate in team meetings and conferences as necessary

• Stay current on best practices and research in the field of speech-language pathology, incorporating new techniques and strategies into therapy sessions as appropriate

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Active state licensure or eligibility for licensure 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children in a school or clinical setting, preferably with a focus on reading intervention
  • Experience gathering and analyzing diagnostic assessment data
  • Track record of success through quantitative measures of student achievement
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and lead with student assets in a culturally responsive manner
  • Patience, compassion, and dedication to student empowerment
  • Experience presenting online and facilitating virtual meetings 
  • Availability to work consistent hours week to week, including evenings


2. Lead Tutor: Adolescent Literacy Specialist & Brand Ambassador 

This is a contract remote role for a Lead Tutor: Adolescent Literacy Specialist at Reading Ready DMV. As a Lead Tutor, you will be responsible for providing high-quality tutoring to students in five core pillars of literacy. This role will require developing and implementing customized lesson plans, assessing student progress, and providing feedback to students and their families. A qualified candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills, as well as a passion for empowering students to become confident readers.

As an Ambassador, you will play a crucial role in representing our organization, inspiring students, and promoting educational programs that empower individuals to succeed. You will be the face of our brand in the community, engaging with various stakeholders, including students, parents, educators, and community partners, to foster relationships and create awareness about our initiatives and services.

Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree or higher in Education or a related field
  • At least 3 years of full-time experience teaching literacy in upper elementary and/or middle school
  • Experience gathering and analyzing diagnostic assessment data in upper elementary and/or middle school
  • Track record of success through quantitative measures of student achievement in upper elementary and/or middle school
  • Extensive knowledge and certification in literacy teaching strategies and interventions grounded in the science of reading and specifically focused on adolescent literacy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience presenting and facilitating virtual meetings, ensuring clear content delivery and participant engagement
  • Ability to work effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and lead with student assets in a culturally responsive manner
  • Patience, compassion, and dedication to student empowerment
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends
  • Willingness to represent Reading Ready DMV in the community
